It’s been over three years since the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy and the downfall of CFO Erin Callan. Yet the underlying unfair media portrayal facing women executives who leave their roles continues in cases like Carol Barsh and Sallie Krawcheck this year. What I care about most is how the media’s disservice to women executives given the portrayal of them when they leave powerful positions affects future generations of women leaders.

I really liked your article in Forbes! Hopefully, women will eventually get a fair shake in the media. I also think that women have to make more of an effort in telling their own story, even if it means hiring a PR agency, writing articles, etc. I think that a lot of women in the workplace don’t do a good job of marketing themselves internally or externally until it is too late. Some press will be good, some will be bad – how you manage it makes a difference.
