What makes a great story?

I’ve always loved stories and never knew how to tell them well. This year, under the direction of Marshall Ganz, an HKS professor and Obama’s former campaign advisor, I’m learning the Art of Public Narrative.

Stories offer us an alternative reality or new insight in our own realities. They have the gift of consciousness and agency. Every story contains heroes and villains and chapters of triumph and humiliation. Check out a great story below where Bono speaks to the religious community. He uses the power of specificity to create a vivid picture to inspire action.
